IAT/NEST Admission Process

Stage 1 - Registration Forms

  • Form to be filled to register for IAT/NEST exams.
  • Candidate should fill it very carefully as it defines your profile for Counselling later on.
  • Required Photo, Signature and other details.

Stage 2 - Hall Ticket

  • Hall Ticket will be released few days before the exam.
  • Know your test centre state and city through Hall Ticket

Stage 3 - IAT/NEST Exam

  • Exam to get admission into Research Courses.
  • Happens once in a year in May/June.
  • IAT Exam is of 240 Marks, NEST Exam is of 240 marks (180 technically).
  • Need to carry Admit Card and Follow dress codes and Do's and Dont's.
  • You will be given opportunity to challenge the answer key for IAT/NEST exam with authorities.

Stage 4 - Exam result

  • Result Scorecard which will give you a chance to get admission into college
  • Contains Score/Rank for the candidate.
  • It also shows the minimum qualification score to be achieved to sit in Counselling

Stage 5 - IAT/NEST Counselling

  • Counselling to get admission into IISER colleges , NISER & CEBS colleges along with IIT Madras & IISc. Bangalore.
  • Starts with release of Information Brochure which defines the counselling rules.
  • Registration required to participate - Form, Documents and Fees to be submitted.

Stage 6 - College Joining

  • Candidate joins the college alloted through Counselling.
  • Seat Acceptance Fees has to be given to join the college. Candidate can freeze/float the seat alloted.

Final Stage - Fee Refund

  • Security Money deposited at the time of Counselling gets refunded.
  • Refund comes only if you have not broken any rule of counselling.
